Hitachi ID Experiences Growth in Education Sector

Educational institutions choose Hitachi ID solutions to enhance productivity, improve security and lower IT support costs.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada - June 30, 2008 - Hitachi ID Systems, Inc., a leading provider in identity management solutions, today reported significant growth in new customer acquisition in the education sector. Hitachi ID's award-winning identity management products have been recently licensed by numerous school districts and post-secondary institutions.

One such institution is Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the fourth largest school district within the United States. MDCPS deployed Hitachi ID's software to 700,000 users, including 62,000 employees, enrolled students and parents.

“After implementing Hitachi ID's software to 62,000 accounts, help desk calls have been maintained at 100 calls on peak days, even with 47,000 registered users,” stated Deborah Karcher, Miami-Dade County Public Schools CIO. “This translates to 75% user adoption and availability is now 365 days, 24 hours a day.”

In August 2006, MDCPS successfully deployed Hitachi ID's solution to the students, parents, and community, approximately 400,000 additional ID's (462,000 in total). “The solution continues to demonstrate its value to the District,” said Karcher, “while our user base continues to increase, our help desk calls remain constant.”
