Hitachi Identity Management Suite Awarded Common Criteria Certification
Evaluation Assurance Level 2 Certification Qualifies Hitachi ID's Software for deployment by government and military organizations in 25 countries.
Calgary, Canada, May 22, 2008 - Hitachi ID Systems, Inc., a leading provider of identity management solutions, today announced that the two core products in its identity management suite -- P-Synch for password management and ID-Synch for user provisioning -- have met the security requirements defined by the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation.
The Common Criteria Certification is required or recognized by 25 national governments as an assurance that software deployed to networks that handle sensitive information meets strict IT security rules. Products certified at EAL 2 have been Structurally Tested -- a process that includes functional and assurance requirements. Functional requirements define the Hitachi ID Management Suite's desired security behaviour, while assurance requirements are the basis for gaining confidence that the security measures Hitachi ID claims for the software are effective and have been implemented correctly.
The certification gives Hitachi ID's government customers confidence in Hitachi ID's software by providing clear and reliable assurance that the Hitachi ID Management Suite's security architecture and integrity have been tested and validated by an accredited, third party against the Common Criteria Standards for Information Technology Security Evaluation (ISO/IEC 15408).
Many security-conscious commercial organizations also rely on Common Criteria certification to identify products that are demonstrably designed and implemented to be secure.
The Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) was established by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) and evaluates information technology products for conformance to certain security standards as based upon an internationally accepted methodology. Today, 25 countries participate in CCEVS, including: Australia, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Hitachi ID's identity management solutions have been successfully and securely deployed by many government agencies, in the US and abroad. Hitachi ID recognized that meeting the strict standards in the CCEVS was critical to provide customers with the highest level of security assurance.
“Hitachi ID has always had a commitment to delivering reliable and secure solutions to large customers and this includes State and Federal agencies,” said Idan Shoham, Hitachi ID CTO. “This certification is a part of our ongoing work to test our solutions and meet our customer's stringent requirements for validated security solutions.”
