M-Tech is currently implementing a secure well-log distribution system for Decollement. This system uses PGP for public-key encryption, to ensure that sensitive drilling and logging data is safe from eavesdroppers.

The system must automatically route logs to clients over e-mail, a web interface, diskettes, print-outs or faxes. It must also take care of automated public key management. Unix was chosen as the operating system for this system because of the ease with which server processes may be developed. Linux was the flavor of Unix chosen for the project because it runs on inexpensive hardware, and is both fast and reliable.
