We are a non-profit organization whose goal is to address the information technology worker shortage in Omaha and greater Nebraska, USA.



Applied Information Management Institute uses Linux for the following functions:

  • X-Windows server (runs applications, possibly exports display)

  • Samba server for a network of PCs.
• Print server:
  • Print spooler using samba (PC clients)
• Office productivity software:
  • Other document management.
• Internet client software - WWW
  • NetScape Navigator.
• Internet client software - mail
  • Pine.
  • Netscape's mail client.
• Electronic mail server:
  • POP-3 server.
  • SMTP server (sendmail, others).
• Network services provided to local users:
  • HTTP (World-Wide Web) server or cache.
  • Accepts telnet connections.
• Network services provided to remote users over dial-up or the Internet:
  • HTTP (World-Wide Web) server or cache.
• Software development tools:
  • Perl
