Dataforge is a producer of Linux servers for the business environment. Also produces software incorporated servers for Image Scanning and Retrieval.



Dataforge uses Linux for the following functions:

• X-Windows:
  • X-Windows terminal (display, keyboard, mouse -- applications run elsewhere)
  • X-Windows server (runs applications, possibly exports display)

  • Samba server for a network of PCs.
  • NFS server for other PCs and Unix systems.

  • Print spooler using lpd (Unix, NFS clients)
  • Print spooler using samba (PC clients)
• Fax spooler:
  • Fax server for outgoing fax transmissions.
• Modem communications:
  • Server answers the phone, provides shell logins.
  • Server answers the phone, provides PPP, SLIP or term logins.
  • Users can dial-out using a (possibly shared) shared modem.

  • Document preparation with ApplixWare.
