Definition of TACACS

TACACS is a simple, unencrypted protocol by which Remote Access Server's may ask an Authentication Server whether or not a given user is allowed to access a given system using a given Password. It is similar to the Radius protocol, but older and less secure. TACACS is not encrypted.
