Definition of NetWare Bindery

NetWare Bindery is a server Operating System, optimized for providing shared files using a Network File System. NetWare Bindery normally uses the IPX and SPX network protocols. It normally provides file and print services to DOS, Windows, Macintosh and OS/2 PCs.

NetWare Bindery has been largely supplanted by NetWare NDS, since the latter has a more robust, hierarchical directory for managing users, files, servers and rights. NetWare Bindery has suffered from Year-2000 bugs, while NetWare NDS does not.
